The Qatar Cycling Federation was established in 2001 by a decision of His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. HH was at that time Chairman of the Qatar National Olympic Committee and decided to have a separate cycling sport activity in its own cycling federation in May 2003. In that year it has been indefinitely amendment to the federation to become the Qatar Cycling Federation.
The Federation has been mandated by HE Sheikh Khalid bin Ali Al Thani, President of the federation since the start. HE selected Federation’s Board of Directors, a set of distinguished administrators led by Mr. Majid Ahmed Al Naimi ‐ the Secretary General of the Federation.
The Federation’s on‐going work consists of promotion of cycling by organizing events for children, recreational rides and major races of which the most important and very famous international stage race Tour of Qatar. Qatar Cycling Federation and Qatar Olympic Committee will also organize the World Cycling championships, which will be held in October 2016.
The Qatar Elite National team consists of ten riders, which train under professional guidance and compete on races in Gulf area and other international races all over the world. The Federation aim is to attract more young athletes to have a strong foundations for further development.
also Dr. Mohammad Jaham Al Kuwari has been elected unopposed as a president of the Qatar Cycling Federation (QCF) for the Olympic term 2017-2020 at the QCTF General Assembly meeting on Wednesday.
