The Qatar Cycling Federation, in a bid to popularize the sport in the country, organised a unique contest for students and guardians. The event took place at Othman Bin Affan Model Independent School and was watched with a great deal of enthusiasm by students and parents on Wednesday. As many as 10 students raced in their class. Mohammed Saleh Shakhboot emerged the winner of the race. Mana Salem al Marri was a close second and Muslem Saleh al Nabet bagged the third place. In the guardian’s race, Salman al Sulaiti (a board member of school) took the first position amidst a big round of applause. Muslem al Doosri came second and Ali Al Marri secured the third spot. Haya al Aswad was the coordinator of the race, which was

organised very well. She said: “Tthe purpose of including the guardian’s race was to give encouragement to kids in sports and we’re happy that the event came off as successfully as we had expected.”
